Problem solving ability and achievement in social studies of adolescents in relation to their study habits parental encouragement and demographic variables

Abstract

This study is aimed to explore the relationship among problem solving ability, achievement study habits, parental encouragement and Demographic variables on a sample of 600 adolescents of 10th class of three districts Ludhiana, Moga and Barnala of Punjab. Major findings revealed that significant difference was found irrespective of their gender, locale and type of institution on the variables of problem-solving ability, achievement, study habits and parental encouragement. Further positive and significant relationship was found among problem solving ability, study habits and parental encouragement. Significant relationship was found among achievement, study habits and parental encouragement. This study would be useful for parents, policy makers and administrators and suggest them the need to come up with policies to enhance the level of ability and habits of adolescents. newline
