Socio economic and political mobility among Dalit women a case study of Punjab

Abstract

On the basis of study, it has been observed that in present time, Dalit women lack basic facilities like education, job, and land and property right. These factors act as barrier in progress and development. Proper implementation of legislation and empowerment of Dalit women is required for equally political participation and for positive changes in their lives. It has been observed from the data that there is need of empowerment of Dalit women and this can be achieved through proper legislation to ensure their active political participation in decision-making. It has been found that there is need to get an identity of their (Dalit women) own, in an orthodox male dominated socio - political set up, which provides them a much-needed forum to look for redressal of their grievances and to make the society understand the problems directly affecting them: this will be the true essence of empowerment. newline
