A Study of State and Trait Sports Confidence among Basketball Players of North Zone

Abstract

The purpose of the study was to study the State and Trait Sports Confidence and further their relationship with important behavioral characteristics of Basketball Players of north Zone. For the purpose of the study, 100 male basketball players were randomly selected as subjects of the study. The subjects were selected from the participants of North Zone Inter University Basketball Tournament for Men 2018-19, held at Jamia Hamdard University. To ensure a homogeneous group on the basis of performance, the research scholar selected the subjects from teams who had qualified for the pre-quarter finals (top-16 teams) of the tournament. It was hypothesized that there would be no significant relationship between the state and trait sports confidence and selected behavioral characteristics among basketball players of North Zone. The necessary data was collected by administering State Sports Confidence Inventory (SSCI), Trait Sports Confidence Inventory (TSCI) developed by Robin S. Vealey, Achievement Motivation Test (SAMT) developed by Dr. M. L. Kamlesh, Sports Orientation Questionnaire developed by Diane L. Gill and Thomas E., Deeter, Sports Competition Anxiety Test (SCAT) developed by Ranier Marten, Sports Aggression Inventory developed by Anand Kumar and Prem Shankar Shukla, Sports Morality Test developed by Dawn Slephae and David Layed Shield, Self- Concept Questionnaire (SCQ) developed by Dr. Raj Kumar Saraswat and Stress Inventory developed by Miller and Allen. newline
