Abstract: | In spite of several studies on comparative studies of algal biodiesel production newlineand algal wastewater treatment. Comparison of performance is difficult due to newlinedifferences in algal parameters such as wastewater, cultivation systems, and newlinetemperature. Keeping this is in mind, the present study is focused on newlinephycoremediation potential of marine microalgae (Nannochloropsis oculata newline(NC1) and Dunaliella salina (DS2) and freshwater algae (Chlorella vulgaris newline(CV1) and Scenedesmus sp (SS2) were cultured in different concentrations of newlinedairy industry wastewater (DWW) and paper industry wastewater (PWW).The algal growth rate exhibited exemplary performance in terms of biomass newlineproduction at concentration (60% DWW + 40% Media). The algal biomass newlineproduced from the 60% concentration of DWW is as follows NC1 sample newlineproduced (1.044 gL-1) and DS2 sample (0.995 gL-1), for CV1 (1.645 gL-1) and newlineSS2 sample (1.103 gL-1) and nutrient removal with removal efficiencies newlinereaching maximum in case of NC1, DS2, CV1, and SS2 in DWW. The nutrient removal efficiency of NC1 in dairy wastewater is (COD: 87.9%, newlineNH4+-N: 96.5%, NO3-N: 72.5% and PO4-3-P: 85.1%) followed by DS2 newlinesample is (COD: 81.5%, NH4+-N: 96.7%, NO3-N: 81.8% and PO4-3-P: newline94.1%). The freshwater microalgae CV1 and SS2 showed exemplary newlineperformance in terms of nutrient removal and biomass production in DWW. newlineCV1 (COD: 91.9%, NH4+-N: 97.5%, NO3-N: 98.8%, and PO4-3-P: 98.7%) and SS2 (COD: 82.5%, NH4+-N: 96.7%, NO3-N: 81.8%, and PO4-3-P: 94.1%). The newlinemass cultivation of marine and freshwater microalgae in airlift photobioreactor newlineand Open pond system was done using the algal biomass obtained from the newlinewastewater treatment concentration (60%DWW+40%Media). The biomass newlineobtained from the mass cultivation study showed that the sample CV1 (0.058 newlinegL-1) from freshwater microalgae was exhibited high level of biomass followed newlineby SS2 sample (0.053 gL-1).In marine algal species, DS2 exhibited high biomass of (0.047 gL-1), NC1 newlineproduced (0.042 gL-1). |
