Abstract: Urbanization is a general increase in population and the amount of newlineindustrialization of a settlement. It is the concentration of population in cities and towns. newlineIt is the extent of the development of cities. It is both the cause and the consequence of newlinethe economic growth. Faster the economy grows faster is urbanization and faster the newlineurbanization, faster is the economic growth (Mugali, 2013). It is prominently observed newlinethat the rate of urbanisation and population has gradually increases with the changing of newlinetime and space. The town and municipality areas are no exception in this regards because newlinehuman beings always wants to get better opportunity and services for living viz. foods, newlinecloths, shelter and different socio-cultural amenities and assets. Besides, it is also noted newlinethat the trends and pattern of migration from rural to urban areas have gradually newlineincreased. Being increased for their widening scope and establishment in terms of newlinedifferent socio-economic, as well as urban amenities and assets. So it is clear that the newlineavailability of housing infrastructures, availability and utilization of various amenities and newlineassets in urban area are better as compared to the rural area. In developing countries, newlineespecially in India, cities offer a better living for the lifeless rural people and are known newlineto be the places where wealth and money are concentrated. Most industries and newlineeducational institutions are located in cities than villages. If properly managed, the newlineprocess of urban development provides the key to overall regional and national newlinedevelopment. Midnapore is the second largest town and main administrative and newlinecommercial centre of Paschim Medinipur district. It is evident that urbanization is the newlineprocess of progressive change of space and population, whereby people move from the newlinerural areas to the urban centres and the rural settlements change into urban settlements. It newlineindicates the forward of the society to development.
