Abstract: The correlation between the existence of man on this earth and resources available newlinefor them is quite primitive. Man has always tried to explore the phyto-resources available newlinearound him from the ethnic era to the modern age. There are still a number of cultivated newlinecrops and medicinal plant species available whose beneficial values are not unexplored newlineeven today. Some of these cultivated species have excellent food values and medicinal newlineproperties. Adequate food and medicines for healthy life are the major challenges for the newlinethird world countries like India. These two important problems need to be addressed newlineproperly. Specific and proper scientific studies can bring solutions to these problems. This newlinemight be possible by searching for alternate available sources of food and medicines from newlinebio-wealth. newlineResearch evidences in the recent years, have emphasized upon the search for new newlineantimicrobial agents or drugs from natural resources in the light of antibiotic resistance by newlinepathogenic microbes. In this context, it is presumed that plant materials which are of wide newlineuse in traditional systems of medicine, could be utilized for preparation of drugs acting newlineagainst AMR (Anti Microbial Resistance). Keeping these in view the five cultivated betel newline(Piper betle L.) varieties (Jaleswar, Vishnupuri, Ghajipur, Desawari and Desipan) was newlineselected for the evaluation of nutritional, antioxidant, secondary metabolites, antibacterial newlineactivity along with change on nutritional values after application of fungicides and newlinephytohormones. The plant materials were collected from different coastal districts of newlineOdisha from the cultivars directly. The survey revealed that these varieties are very much popular in the state as chewing agents for freshness. They are consumed in day to day life newlineand more so in socio-cultural events. The experiments revealed that they have potent newlinenutritional values along with rich sources of secondary metabolites. The presence of total newlinephenol indicated their antioxidant values. The ethanol extract of the experimental plant newline
