Abstract: Effective postoperative pain control is a very important factor in our day-to-day newlinepractice. For ideal postoperative pain management, we need to eliminate or newlineminimize pain and discomfort to the patient. This can be achieved with simple, newlineeasily available, and economical measures which have very minimal or no newlineadverse effect. Effective postoperative pain control is achieved by preventing the newlineinitial neural cascade which leads to hypersensitivity produced by noxious newlinestimuli. Efficient analgesic agent before the onset of the noxious stimulus to newlineprevent central sensitization and preventing typically painless sensations to be newlineexperienced as pain (allodynia). In current day practice, Pre-emptive analgesia is newlinethe growing trend; as it pertains to minimizing the postoperative pain following newlinesurgery and thus maintaining a harmonious postoperative pain control. Thus, newlinePre-emptive analgesia is one such method that enables post operative comfort newlineand quality of life. newlineAim newlineTo evaluate and compare the efficacy of pregabalin and dexmedetomidine against newlinethe control diclofenac in impacted mandibular molars using a randomized newlinecontrolled trial. newlineMaterials And Methods newlineThe present study is a randomized clinical trial conducted on 90 patients newlinebetween the age group of approximately 15-60 years, who had visited the newlinePage 16 of 144 newlinehospital for removal of impacted wisdom teeth. The study participants were all newlinehealthy individuals with no systemic comorbidities. Each participant randomly newlineassigned to one of the three groups, where one group was the control group newlinewhich received diclofenac sodium, while the other two groups were the newlineintervention group which received pregabalin 150mg preoperatively and newlineDexmedetomidine 1ug intraoperatively during the removal of impacted third newlinemolar. The postoperative assessment was carried out in both the groups during newlinepostoperative day 1, 3 and 7 respectively, and significant differences were noted newlinebetween both the groups. newlineResults newlineStatistical analysis of the data indicated the mean pain score during the newlinePreoperative
