dc.description.abstract | Blood-borne pathogens are threat for the human population in newlinedeveloping as well as in developed countries. They primarily include human newlineimmunodeficiency virus (HIV), hepatitis B virus (HBV), hepatitis C virus newline(HCV) and syphilis (Elise et al, 2000). These entire infectious agents can newlinetransmit through sexual contact, transfusion of blood and blood products, newlineinfected mother to the babies, accidental exposure and sharing needle newlineamong drug abusers. To prevent such infections, it is mandatory to take newlinenecessary protective actions; like proper diagnostic measure and treatment. newlineThe way to control HIV, HCV and syphilis infections from spreading is to newlineadapt diagnostic procedures and educate community about the transmission newlineand the infectivity.Although several diagnostic tests are available to detect HIV, HCV newlineand syphilis infected individuals, but due to difficulty to perform the assays in newlinerural or resource limited areas, makes these infections a global public health newlineproblem. Therefore to overcome this problem, a sample collection filter card newlinedeveloped which can use in field level or rural areas for sample collection newlineand transport. In this present study HIV, HCV 3rd generation ELISA and newlinenovel recombinant Treponema pallidum protein based syphilis ELISA newlinedeveloped, which can be performed in field level or resource limited settings newlineby the aid of the hand held ELISA reader. To control HBV infection, several newlinerapid methods or enzyme immune assays are available to detect HBV newlineinfection, but due to the higher mutation rate in HBV genome, it can escape newlinefrom immune regulation. newlineTherefore, current study come up with Loop mediated isothermal newlineamplification coupled with lateral flow device as a point of care diagnostic newlineassay for the detection of HBV. Currently the diagnostic assays so far newlinedeveloped over the time to detect critical pathogens like HIV, HBs Ag, HCV newlineand syphilis have been limited to imported kits or assays. | |
