A Study of Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy on Emotional Well Being and Quality of Life of Elderly

Abstract

Throughout life span many shifts come, in later age shifts take a deeper turn and newlinemany changes come in a way like physiological and psychological aspects simultaneously, newlinealong with shifts in role, mobility, memory and losses (Close relationships). Responses to newlinethese changes could be inferred in various ways. In this age, socio-emotional life becomes newlineimportant. If individual face difficulties in regulating emotions than the reaction towards newlinethese events could be denial, guilt, loneliness etc, which leads to distress and newlinepsychopathology in the longer run. Dealing with such deep feelings becomes a challenge newlineand important goal. Being attentive and aware of deeper feelings associated with thoughts newlineand learning how to manage them without getting tangled in them is inferred by newlinemindfulness. This technique can help an individual to step out of the habitual mind and newlineoverwhelming emotions and not to get tangled and carried away to the fall of distress. newline
