Abstract: Vipassanand#257; is one of the forms of Buddhist meditation, Samatha and Vipassanand#257; newlinediscovered by Gotama Buddha and taught by him as a universal remedy for universal ills. newlineSamatha and Vipassanand#257;, the former is usually rendered into English with such terms as newline stabilizing meditation and calm abiding and refers to meditative practices aimed at the newlinestilling of thought and development of concentration. newlineBuddhist concepts have attracted the attention of the Western world for decades; newlinehowever, only in recent years has Vipassanand#257; practice gained a role in enhancing health newlineand the quality of everyday life. A number of clinical research studies indicate a potential newlinewide array of physiological benefits of Buddhist contemplative practices. Part of the newlinereason for these new discoveries is that many more Westerners are now being trained in newlinethe Buddhist contemplative traditions and are educating the general population through newlinetheir writings and teachings. newline
