Metabolomics, a new and emerging field of omics which consists of newlinecomprehensive and quantitative analysis of wide arrays of primary and secondary newlinemetabolites in plant samples is playing an increasingly important role in plant newlinescience, description at the chemical reactions governing in tissue, is important for newlineunderstanding alterations in physiological, developmental, bio-prospection, newlineidentifying biomarkers and biochemical processes in plants. Metabolites present in newlineplant tissues were assessed by metabolite profiling techniques such as GC-MS, newlineHPLC and NMR spectroscopy followed by univariate and multivariate analysis on newlinedata obtained to explore more information about biological process. This Ph.D. newlinethesis describes the metabolic profiling of three medicinal plants namely, newlineCommiphora wightii, Withania somnifera and Betula utilis. These three plants newlinebelong to three different families so as to study three different metabolic pathways. newlineMoreover, these plants are of prime importance in Ayurveda for treating various newlineailments. newline
