Abstract: India is populous country in which labour intensive technique play vital role in the development of country. Accordingly, labour welfare programme have great significance in Indian context. An organization is highly influenced by human resource and factors affecting performance of it. The labour welfare measure is one of the factors penetrating in the life of employees those who are working in different organizations. Indeed, health of organizations depends on heath of workers, both the social security and labour welfare programmes undertaken by the employer and government play positive role in the same direction. It is needed to find out the employees view about the labour welfare measures and its effect on the performance of unit. Identifying the factor that contributes to improve the living standard of labour also essential. Thus the goal of this study is to gain knowledge about employee s welfare measures and social security. In India the labour welfare started sometime during the 1st world war (1914-1918). Till then wellbeing of workers in factories was hardly thought by anybody. Since, 1st world war labour welfare has been expanding on voluntary basis. Industrial Labour Organization has played a very significant role for labour welfare. Much labour legislation has been formed by Central Government and State Governments for welfare of labours in Industries. Government has laid down minimum standards for employment and working conditions in organizations, adopting rules and regulation time to time. Besides, the government, the employers, trade unions and various social organizations also function as agencies for implementation of labour welfare measures. An Industrial labour organization is an advisory body so it cannot force any country to newlineiii newlineintroduce welfare measures. The need of labour welfare was powerfully felt by the Royal Commission of Labour far back in 1931, Indian constitution emphasized this need under its directive principles of state policy.
