Abstract: Aim of the study: To compare clinically and radiologically the effects of Platelet Rich newlineFibrin (PRF) over Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) on alveolar bone repair following extraction newlineof impacted third molars. To assess the Post-operative pain scale, Post-operative swelling, newlineSoft tissue healing index and Bone tissue healing index among the Platelet Rich Fibrin newline(PRF) group participants and Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) group participants. newlineMethodology: The study was a clinical non-randomised prospective trial involving fifty newlinepatients visiting the department of Oral and maxilla facial surgery at Sree Balaji dental newlinecollege and hospital, Chennai. The sample size was determined based on G*Power 3.1.9.2. newlineThe research protocol had obtained the Ethical clearance certificate from the Ethical newlinecommittee of Sree Balaji Dental College and hospital, Chennai. All the patients were newlineexplained about the study procedure and its possible outcomes in their own language and newlineethical consent were obtained. Study design: A clinical non-randomized prospective study. newlineStudy site: Department of Oral and maxilla facial surgery, Sree Balaji Dental College and newlineHospital, Chennai. Study subjects: 50 consecutive patients indicated for bilateral extraction newlineof mandibular third molar were included in this study. Sampling technique: Simple random newlineparallel sampling technique. All the 100 samples included in this study were recorded for newlinepre and post-operative pain, swelling, Soft, and hard tissue Changes. newlineResults: No statistical significant difference between the PRP and PRF groups with respect newlineto pain as measured by the Visual analog scale. Swelling between the PRP and PRF side newlinethere was statistically significant difference observed on the 3rd and 7th day, PRF side had newlinelesser swelling compared to PRP side. But there was no difference seen on the 14th day. newlineNo statistically significant difference observed with respect to soft tissue healing between newlineboth the groups. Overall bone density was better on the PRF side compared to PRP side newlineand it was
