Abstract: | Based on several growing evidence, antioxidants can be newlineconsidered as modifiable factors that significantly decrease the risk of newlinedegeneration and progression of PD. Especially antioxidants from herbal newlinemedicines play vital role against several degenerative diseases. In newlineaddition to neuroprotective effects other potential benefit of adding newlineantioxidant therapy to reduce the L-Dopa dosage administration to newlineameliorate the side effects of standard drug. Many therapeutic drugs are newlineused in the treatment of PD. L-Dopa is the most effective symptomatic newlinetreatment of PD. However, after an initial period of dramatic benefit, newlineseveral limitations become apparent including, dopa resistant motor newlinesymptoms (postural abnormalities, freezing episodes, speech impairment), newline dopa resistant non-motor signs (autonomic dysfunction, mood and newlinecognitive impairment, etc), and/or drug related side effects (especially newlinepsychosis, motor fluctuations, and dyskinesias). Therefore strategy was to decrease the unwanted effects of L-Dopa. For this purpose in our study newlinewe reduced the standard dose of L-Dopa i.e. 15 mg to 7.5 mg/kg. Hence newlinethe present study was carried out to evaluate the protective effect of newlineembelin and embelin plus L-Dopa combination in rotenone induced PD newlinemice newline newline |
