Abstract: The physiology of three selected fungi viz. Porostereum spadiceum, Peniophora nuda and Irpex lacteus was studied for the influence of physical and nutritional factors on their growth, reproduction, enzyme production and bioactive potential. The nutritional factors included effect of carbon source, nitrogen source and trace elements. All three fungi were found positive for cellulose degrading and lignin modifying enzymes qualitatively. None of the trace elements were found to be completely fungistatic for the growth of test fungi. All three fungal samples were subjected to FTIR and GCMS analysis. GCMS analysis of ethyle acetate, methanol and hexane extract of all three samples suggested the presence of various bioactive constituents. newline newline
