Influence of Chemical Composition of Aerosol on Visibility in and Around NCR of Delhi And Its Validation Using WRF Model

Abstract

Atmospheric obscurity due to degraded visibility has become a public concern in major cities newlineacross India in recent years, especially over National Capital Region (NCR) of Delhi. Northern newlineparts of India are dominated by atmospheric obscurity in the winter season. Meteorological newlinephenomena like fog, mist, haze and smoke haze are very common during the winter season, newlinewherein the atmospheric visibility remains less than 3 km for days together and often reduces to newlinezero. In recent years, due to the rapid economic growth and climate change, the visibility newlinedeterioration frequently occurring over NCR of Delhi have become more intense, harming newlinehuman health, affecting people s daily life and at times completely clamping airports services. newlineOn many occasions, IGI Airport, New Delhi was virtually shut down for hours together due to newlinezero visibility caused by dense fog in the winter season. newline
