Synthesis and Characterization of 3d Series Transition Metal Complexes of Macrocyclic Ligands

Abstract

The chemistry of macrocyclic ligands and their complexes has been an interesting and newlinefascinating area of research activity for chemists all over the world during last few decades. The newlinecontinued interest of chemists to proliferate this chemistry is not only due to structural novelties newlineof these compounds but also because of their varied applications in the area viz. medicinal, newlinebiochemical, bioinorganic, industrial, photochemical, photoelectronic etc. Among the newlinemacrocycles the synthesis of schiff base macrocyclic compounds received considerable attention newlineduring the last few decades because of their relationship to biomimetic and the applications of newlinethis type of chelating agents in biology and medicine. Transition metal macrocyclic schiff base newlinecomplexes have been extensively studied by researchers in search of designing new chemical newlineagents because of their excellent biological activities, including antimicrobial, antioxidant and newlineanticarcinogenic. Thus, an idea was conceived to initiate work for Ph.D. thesis aimed to design newlinenew schiff base macrocyclic ligands and their transition metal complexes via organic, newlinenontemplate and template procedures in order to develop macrocyclic species with new newlinestructural features and biological activities. newline newline
