Abstract: The major role played by umbilical cord towards the well being of the fetus has been appreciated by obstetricians, but however not received appropriate clinical attention. The knowledge of umbilical cord morphology as well as anomalies, and its potential effects on the pregnancy outcome were the results of pathologic studies.Because the morphology of UC is usually studied by pathologists and correlates the findings with perinatal outcome. UC morphology was rarely analysed by using Ultrasonography, except to know the vessel number and for the blood flow pattern of umbilical artery. newline newlineHowever, in the literature, we encounter very few studies from the west attempted to construct the area of umbilical cord. Therefore the study was undertaken to assess the area of the umbilical cord and its constituent sonographically and to find a correlation with fetal anthropometric measurements and perinatal outcomes. newline newline
