Design and development of data mining based classification models for information security

Abstract

Information security is one of the important issues for any organization or individual to protect data and information from unauthorized access. Valuable data and information are kept in the system connected through the computer network are needed to secure against the intruders. With the rapid development of Internet, e-mail has become effective means of communication to share information. In recent years, e-mail users are facing problem due to spam e-mails. There are many serious problems associated with spam e-mails. Spam e-mail is not only wastage of storage space but also wastage of time. newlineOn the other hand intrusion is another threat which can damage information stored in the system. For this Intrusion Detection System (IDS) may play important role. An IDS has always been an important area of research in computer security and network. IDS can recognize and identify the user s activity as either normal or anomaly (Intrusion) that means IDS can detect Intrusion and protect system from unauthorized users or attackers.
