dc.description.abstractDiabetes-specific education is required for healthcare personnel and newlinepeople with diabetes. In addition training is needed to help them integrate newlinenew knowledge and transform old practices. Diabetes self-management newlineeducation and ongoing self-management support are critical components of newlineeffective diabetes care, and significant contributors to metabolic and newlinepsychological outcomes. There is increasing evidence that prevention newlinestrategies do work to prevent type II diabetes, and that education of newlinehealthcare workers and people with diabetes needs to play a key role in newlineimproving outcomes.The need to develop comprehensive and integrated approaches to newlineminimise the prevention of psychological and physiological problems newlineamong people with diabetes mellitus was the main purpose of the present newlinestudy. Various research studies were conducted using quantitative newlineapproaches but adherence to the interventions suggested were not properly newlineconfirmed. A qualitative study may inform the contributing factors for nonadherence newlineand also provide insight into the psychological dimensions newlineinvolved in relationship to depression. Understanding the value of both a newlinequantitative and qualitative approach to answer the objectives laid down, newlinethe investigator identified that a mixed methods research approach will be newlinemore suitable to quantify as well as qualify the need for the interventions. newlineA sequential design with Mixed Methods Research (MMR) was found newlinesuitable to first quantify the effectiveness of nursing strategies followed by a newlinephenomenological approach was used to identify the lived in experience of newlinediabetics. newline
