Abstract: Oxford English Dictionary defined the word marriage as it derives from Middle newlineEnglish marriage, which first appears in 1250 1300 Common Era. This in turn is newlinederived from Old Frenchmarier (to marry) and ultimately Latinmarand#299;tand#257;re meaning newlineto provide with a husband or wife and marand#299;tand#257;ri meaning to get married. newlineIn the present study the following were found to be the major causes for marital newlinedisharmony among IT litigants newlineand#61623; Younger age group newlineand#61623; Equal qualification and equal income newlineand#61623; Arranged marriage with lesser duration of marital life newlineand#61623; Both working and having no children newlineand#61623; Among the various domains of reason familial and personal reasons were newlinefound to the highest reasons. newlineand#61623; The low levels of agreeableness, conscitiousness, openness and high newlinelevel of neuroticism were the identified personality traits. newlineStudy concluded that familial, personal and marital were the major causative newlinefactors for marital dissolution in IT litigants. Personality traits influences and newlinepredicts marital disharmony. Reasons and personality traits were significantly newlinerelated with each other in predicting marital relationship and it also proved that newlinedemographic factors influence the stability of marriage. newline
