dc.description.abstract | There is abundance of empirical studies on the experiences of work-family interface of newlinethe working women in the west but very few researches have been carried out on the newlinesame in Indian context. Gender inequalities continue in the Indian labour market newlinethroughout the time. In spite of the social pressures either to join the women-friendly job newlinelike academics, medicines or to be conventional to the homemaker role, women have newlinebeen entering into the IT/ITES industries. The study discusses that women s Labor force newlineparticipation has been potentially increasing in many developing countries and India is no newlineexception in this sense. The rise of women s participation in labor market is accompanied newlineby a shift in the employment from the primary agricultural sectors to the non-agricultural newlinesectors especially the tertiary sector what is known as service sectors. This thesis newlinecontributes to the understanding of the dynamics in the relationship between newlineglobalization and women employees with special focus on the Business Process newlineOutsourcing (BPO) industry in India. It offers the analysis of the nature of women s newlineparticipation in BPOs in India in general and in Delhi, in particular. Delhi is considered newlineas one of the largest BPO centres in India. According to the study of Nasscom and newlineNasscom Diversity and Inclusion Summit 2017, an increase of 14% during 2004 2017 newlineperiods has been recorded in the share of women in BPO workforce. Currently women newlinerepresent 34% of total BPO workforce in the country, and, it is expected that, one out of newlinethree employees is a woman joining the Indian IT-BPO sectors. On the one hand, there is newlineno doubt that these service sectors provide new opportunities for all labor force in general newlineand especially female labor force in particular. But on the other hand, these sectors pose newlinedifferent challenges to working women because work at these organizations is highly newlinedemanding and require shift work also. When employees are expected to do more and newlinemore for their organizations, they are able to invest less time and energy | - |
