Abstract: The present thesis has examined the critical concept of survivance in order to understand the nuances of decolonization with respect to Native Americans. The literary works under consideration have been delineated through the historical, political, sociological and cultural analysis of European colonization and its impacts on indigenous peoples of America. The literary works of the native authors have stressed on indigenous differences to gain cultural autonomy from colonial models. The indigenous discourse of silence , trickster and storytelling , which forms the basis of Native American Studies and acts as a counter-narrative, has remained the focus of research to interrogate Euro-American hegemonic discourse. newline
