Abstract: | The increase in CVD risk among menopausal women is mostly due to newlineestrogen deprivation, which directly affects risk factors such as dyslipidemia, newlinediabetes mellitus, overweight or hypertension at the time of menopause. newlineDyslipidemia arises as a result of abnormal blood lipid profiles including those newlineof HDL, LDL and triglycerides and remains one of the most important factors responsible for increased CVD risk among menopausal women. Data newlineconcerning cardiovascular disease in women is rapidly expanding. It is now newlineknown that women are more likely succumb to cardiovascular diseases each newlineyear than men and the incidence of cardiovascular disease in women newlineincreases dramatically. Dyslipidemia is one risk factor that can be diagnosed newlineeasily.The cost for therapeutic treatment has compelled the people to look in newlinefor alternative cheap methods to minimize the associated complications. newlineMedicinal plants often effective natural remedies in treating various ailments. newlineCurry leaf and Cucumber are easily available low cost plant products in rural newlineareas and consumed regularly, and also intermittently as food products. newlineHence an attempt has been made to manage hyperlipidemia without side newlineeffects by supplementing curry leaf powder or cucumber slices in rural women newlinewith menopausal hyperlipidemia. Aim newlineThe study is aims to compare the effectiveness of curry leaf powder newlineand cucumber among menopausal women with hyperlipidemia in rural newlinecommunity. In conclusion, the present study revealed curry leaf contains anti oxidant newlineproperty which helps to fight against cholesterol. The antioxidants present in newlinethe curry leaves might be involved in the elevation of HDL and thus could newlinelower the LDL and TC. newline |
