Abstract: Though there are several studies on hepatocellular carcinoma and its newlinetherapeutic options, the mortality rate of this disease is still high. Many herbal newlineplants and its products show good hepatoprotective property against newlineexperimentally induced HCC models. There were many studies on newlineCardiospermum halicacabum Linn to prove its antidiabetic, anticonvulsive, newlineantipyretic, antiarthritic, and also anticancer properties in HepG2 cell lines, newlineand breast cancer cell lines. Studies are not available on anticancer activity of this extract in experimentally induced animal models. Hence, there is a newlineneed to prove the efficiency of this extract in HCC and it is compared with newlinecisplatin, a standard chemotherapy agent used to treat the HCC.Aim newlineThe aim of the present study is to evaluate the effectiveness of newlineCardiospermum halicacabum Linn extract on diethylnitrosamine induced newlinehepatocellular carcinoma in Wistar rats.Hepatocellular carcinoma. Administration of 200 mg/Kg of CHL newlineextract showed potential anticancer activity against DEN induced newlinehepatocellular carcinoma equilent to cisplatin by reducing the oxidative newlinestress, inflammation, NF-and#954;B gene expression and by increasing the newlineproduction of antioxidants. newline
