Abstract: Partap Sharma is one of the profound dramatists in Indian English drama. His dramas represent the predicament of the contemporary Indian people who speak about the problems and misery of the common man in India. He was acquired in the arena of Indian English literature and important plays. As their themes, dramas achieve history, myth and the battle for identity. In his plays, there is a tough collection of historical, cultural, political and other evidence of human history. Partap Sharma has gained important place in English in the replacement of Indian literature. He is one of the well-known playwrights. newlinePartap Sharma, being a gentleman of theatre, has been energetically allied with the stage and has written plays with an appreciation to their construction and performance. Partap Sharma s plays disclose a strong stiffness between tradition and modernity. He goes back to native and old practices, which were measure of his childhood atmosphere. His style is simple and the dialogues are suited well for the Indian sensibilities and ethos. Partap Sharma s works in the theatre expose two unresolved potentials: a continuous experimentation with the human disorder in its contemporary as well as universal appearance. His plays discover the human psyche and its social situation. newlineAs a voracious reader, Partap Sharma chose drama as his literary tool. A half-dozen plays came out of his Punjabi pen. The best plays among them are A Touch of Brightness, Zen Katha, and Begum Sumroo, and Sammy! His dialogues and themes are close to the Contemporary English Drama that are praised and applauded by the overseas.
