Abstract: | The problem of obesity is striking globally affecting every section of the newlinesociety. It has taken a shape of pandemic in both developed and developing newlinecountries all over. The problem is not further short lived as it continues to newlineaffect even in the adulthood. Much of the studies reported are done in western newlinecountries and only a few Indian studies are reported in the published media. newlineThe investigator has made an attempt to study various variables involved in newlineobesity by implementing an intervention program where parent is involved in newlinethe management of obesity of children. Food habits are developed in early newlinechildhood and home is the place where this learning is incorporated. newlineNutritionists say that a child should be able to share the family pot by the end newlineof one year age which means the child is ready to learn and inculcate eating newlinebehavior by end of one year. Usually children are problematic eaters but if newlinethey are taught good eating habits earlier it would help in prevention of newlineunnecessary weight gain. Also lifestyle habits like physical exercise, regular newlinehours of sleep and screen viewing limitations in hour are common things that can be learnt from family and parents which can be inculcated in young age newlineitself. Thus parents have a responsible role in mending the living ways of newlinechildren. Hence, obesity related behavior in weight gain and to determine the newlineeffectiveness of a parent focused program in bringing changes in weight of newlineobese and overweight children is needed. newline |
