The National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE) report, in the 2014 newlineguidelines, that treatment for osteoarthrosis should take a holistic approach. newlineThis should have education along with non-pharmacological treatment like newlineexercise, weight loss and some assistive devices such as knee braces and newlinecane. Surgical treatments include the total knee replacement, newlineunicompartmental knee arthroplasty and tibial osteotomy. They are cost newlineeffective treatments for osteoarthrosis. There are evidences that these newlinesurgical treatments are not effective for the young people with OA knee newlinebecause they have a very active lifestyle and post operative can cause much newlinecomplication. Hip joint muscle strength has a critical role in balancing the newlinelower extremity in single limb stance. During heel strike, gluteus medius newlinecontract and create lateral tilt on opposite side pelvis to maintain center of newlinegravity in a level position. Clinically gluteal medius weakness causes pelvic newlinedrop in opposite side leads to change in a weight bearing axis of knee joint newlineand it creates abnormal weight bearing on the medial and lateral tibiofemoral newlinecondyles respectively and also have impairment in proprioception. Weak thigh newlinemuscle will cause impaired walking and balance and leads to risk of fall during newlineactivities of daily living. So pain, lower extremity muscle power and newlineproprioception are clinically important for participants balance control. Hence newlinethere is a need to study weight bearing exercise to hip abductor in various newlinebalance strategies to achieve muscle strength, joint position sense, balance newlineand activity of daily living. newline
