Abstract: Big Data has become one of the basic commodities in today world over the newlinelast few years. As Big Data continues to infuse our daily lives, there has been newlinea significant shift of focus from the hype surrounding it to finding real value newlinein its use. Hence, the industry has been looking at different ways in which they newlinecan make use of Big Data in their business. Hadoop was mainly developed to newlineanalyze this large-scale data repository in a parallel processing architecture. newlineAs the data was freely available in public, security was never a concern to the newlinedevelopers initially. All the features that offer flexibility, scalability, high newlineperformance to Hadoop have created specific security challenges. More individuals and companies will move to Hadoop, only if those issues newlineare tackled most suitably. To deal with the security issues, the Hadoop newlineprovider needs to retain the ownership rights and maintain and deliver the newlineaudit records of data to the concerned client-side authorities. To accomplish newlinethis, the Hadoop provider requires proper data isolation of all data and VMrelated newlineinformation. Hadoop provides some level of data isolation through the provision of ACL s newlinewhich has not been sufficient to provide the data security expected by these newlineorganizations. Therefore, providing security to the logically or sensitive aware newlinesegregated user data from any other unauthorized user, isolation of data, and newlinemaintenance of proper compliance and SLAs becomes the topmost priority in newlinethe present Hadoop environment. This research investigation introduces an innovative security solution newline HadoopSec - A Sensitive Aware Block Placement Strategy for Hadoop environments, which is built based on hybrid three-tier expert engines, namely newlineLabelling-Engine (tier-1), Placement-Engine (tier-2) and Analytic-Engine newline(tier-3). HadoopSec considers the sensitive level of the data and the actual newlineowner of the data while stored in the Hadoop environments, also all the newlineabnormalities and inconsistencies brought by attackers from the Hadoop newlineprovider s side.
