Total Alloplastic Temporomandibular Joint Reconstruction Predictability and Feasibility for Indian Population

ABSTRACT newline newlineExperience from orthopaedic literature and major joints, a total alloplastic reconstruction may be considered as an option for the patients with severe anatomical discrepancies involving the tempero-mandibular joint. The study was aimed to design and access the feasibility of custom made total alloplastic tempero-mandibular joint (TMJ) for TMJ reconstruction. The custom made total alloplastic TMJ was used in the present study to improve mandibular function and to reduce suffering and disability. The proposed joint design will be a stock prosthesis, which requires surgical adjustment. Total titanium condylar prosthesis with ultra high molecular weight polyethylene joint force is designed. In conclusion, Total titanium condylar prosthesis with UHM WPE joint fossa design serves as a reliable and safe TMJ TJR device with significant post-operative results. newline
