Abstract

One of the most prevalent premalignant condition of the oral cavity associated with chewing tobacco and areca nut is Oral Submucous Fibrosis (OSMF).An estimated 1 million people succumb to tobacco and gutkha-related diseases every year in India alone.The cause of OSMF remains unclear, even though areca nut (main component of betel quid) is thought to be responsible for its induction.
