Abstract: This doctoral dissertation aims to offer a comprehensive understanding of dividend newlinepolicies in banking sector in Nepal. The thesis is motivated and inspired by the newlinesignificance of dividend policy theory in the field of finance, as shown by a newlinecombination of theoretical and empirical evidence in the literature predominately newlinedeveloped and emerging countries. This study tests the Lintner (1956) model along newlinewith the relationship between dividend policy and the value of shares of banking newlinefirms in Nepal through empirical models. Additionally, the thesis investigates the newlinemajor determinants of banking dividend payout as well as examines the attitude and newlineperceptions of banking executives while deciding their dividend policy. newline
