Abstract: This research topic deals with the early detection of alternaria blight newlinedisease in the leafs of bitter gourd plant. Food losses due to crop infections newlinefrom pathogens such as bacteria, viruses and fungi are persistent issues in newlineagriculture for centuries across the globe. In order to minimize the disease newlineinduced damage in crops as well as to maximize productivity and ensure newlineagricultural sustainability, advanced disease detection and prevention in crops newlineare very important. newlineT h e following conclusions are arrived from the research. Using newlineminimum values and cut off values. As a result of the experiment it is found newlinethat alternaria blight disease is lowest in germination stage and highest in newlineflowering stage. Using images of randomly selected leaves (from all stages), It newlineis shown that 24% of leaves are affected by alternaria blight disease (method newline1) and 14% of leaves are affected by alternaria blight disease (method 2). The newlinefindings reveal that necessary precautions are to be taken at branching stage newlineof the bitter gourd plant. There is no use of preventing the disease at flowering newlinestage as it will affect the fruiting stage and also it will affect the total yield of newlinethe plant. newline
