dc.description.abstractThe estimated global prevalence of superficial cutaneous mycosis is newline20-25%. (Hay et al, 2014) There is a geographical and temporal variability in newlinethe prevalence of these infections. The incidence of these infections are newlineconstantly increasing and has become a public health problem especially in newlinethe Indian scenario, which is an indicator of change in local epidemiological newlinetrends. Additional to this there a change in the pattern of clinical presentation newlineand predominate etiological agents. The heterogeneity in the distribution of newlineetiological agents in different parts of the world and from one geographic newlineregion to another region in the country has been attributed to various sociodemographic, newlineenvironmental, clinical and mycological factors. newlineAim newlineTo identify the etiological agents of superficial cutaneous mycoses newlineusing conventional and molecular methods, antifungal susceptibility testing of newlinepredominant etiological agents and unusual clinical isolates. newlinereaserch work on the newlineclinicomycological study of superficial cutaneous mycosis, molecular newlinecharacterization and antifungal susceptibilities of the dermatophytes and NDM newlineisolates.
