Abstract: The present study demonstrates the safety and efficacy of the Siddha herbo-mineral formulation Pancha Paasana Chendhuram (PPC) in in vitro and in vivo experimental models in the treatment of cancer. 500 g of reddish brown fine PPC was prepared in two batches as per the sastric method. For the first of its kind, PPC was subjected to intensive physic-chemical and spectral studies. PPC is sparingly soluble in acid, slightly soluble in alcohol and insoluble in water. LOD was found to be 1.480% w/w, total ash content is 83.37% w/w, acid insoluble content was 32.92% and pH was found to be highly acidic (3.07). SEM analysis suggest the particles and surface morphology of PPC villai and PPC are vary. Particle size of PPC was found to be gt5and#61549;and#61472;and surface charge was found to be negative (-2.76). Chemical composition of the PPC was analysed using various instruments such as FTIR, X RD, ICP - OES, XRF and SEM-EDAX. FTIR spectrum showed the presence of carbonyl stretching and aromatic skeletal stretching in PPC. In XRD pattern of PPC the two theta values at 27.27 and at 32.58 indicate the presence of HgS. The peak at 35.58 corresponds to Fe 3O4. Peak at 2and#415; 21.23, 23.66, 30.78, 32.58, 33.17 and 53.44 revealed the presence of As2S3. ICP - OES analysis of PPC showed the presence of Fe, As, Cu and Hg. XRF analysis of PPC showed major composition of Fe as 59.89% and 21.56% of As. EDAX analysis of PPC O, Fe, S, Si, As, Ca ,K, N, Co. PPC villai shows elements of O, Fe, S, Si, As, Ca and C. Fe element is higher in PPC compared with PPC villai. Physicochemical analysis bathc I and II have similar results, suggesting that there is no variation in preparation and demonstrate the preparation method s reproducibility. ICP-OES, XRD, XRF and SEMEDAX analysis of PPC showed it contains Fe3O4, As2S3 and HgS. Physicochemical characterization of PPC complies with AYUSH standard of Chendhuram. The present study data on the physioco-chemical analyses will serve as a reference standard for future studies about Pancha Paasana Chendhuram. newline
