Abstract: | , a full-scale study was performed arriving to the main goal of energy newlineharvesting from the wake of moving bluff body using a Savonius wind turbine. Energy production from moving vehicles has attracted much attention in recent days, newlinewhich is a novel yet complicated way towards green energy production by utilizing newlinerelative wind generated from the moving vehicle. A speeding train generates an newlineenormous gust of wind around it and has a substantial amount of kinetic energy left newlinein it, which is a potential wind energy resource to be harvested. The available wind newlineenergy was assessed by placing the turbine in close proximity within the slipstream newlineregion of the train, tested under both open-atmosphere and tunnel condition. A newlinecomputer-oriented fluid-solid integrated model was developed and implementing all newlinephysically realistic condition which was a very challenging task. Parametric sensitivity analysis was conducted to obtain the optimal performance of the turbine, newlineenergy recovery from tunnel condition, wind turbine array and torque generation from two crossing trains as a very special case has been simulated. The present newlinestudy enhances the understanding of the power generation by using Savonius wind newlineturbine from train slipstream and turbine array which is not reported in any open newlineliterature. |
