Abstract: | Medical tourism is the provision of easy and cost effective medical care to the inbound medical tourists in collaboration with the tourism industry and its stakeholders. India is flourishing hub of medical tourism and Chennai attracts about 45 percent of health tourists from abroad and 40 percent of the domestic health tourists because of its doctors and healthcare facilities newlineThe study attempts to explore the medical tourism sector and its potential implications on the domestic health care in Chennai with a prospective focus. Objectives of the Study to discuss the various demographic factors of the medical tourist, both foreign and domestic, to examine the relationship between various demographic factors and destination choice as Chennai. To study the perception of the Medical Tourists towards Chennai as a destination choice of Medical Tourism. newlineThe present study is assessed to find the problems and process of medical tourism in Chennai. The study examines the demographic and socio economic status of the medical tourists. The study attempts to evaluate the various process and flow of inbound medical tourists to Chennai. The primary data collection was collected by conducting a pilot study to validate the research. A sample population for the field of 100 respondents was collected. The survey was based on after validating the pilot study. Random sampling is applied for the study. The major NABH accredited hospitals which attract huge number of medical tourists in Chennai have been identified. As Apollo Hospital, Miot Hospital, Fortis Hospital, SIMS Hospitals and Global Hospital attract more than 75 percent of the medical tourists these hospitals have been selected for the research. 100 questionnaires were distributed in each hospital and data were collected.
