Abstract: The global burden of microbial diseases has to be addressed in an increasing pace newlinedue to the vortex-like environment seen in the health domain. Indeed, employing green newlinesyntheses of nanoparticles with metals/metalloids might be cost-effective as newlineantibacterials. Herein, the synthesis of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) with the newlinecyanobacterium Chroococcus minutus (MN567194), collected from brackish water, newlineOdisha, India is presented; both reducing and stabilizing mediators of the synthesized newlineAgNPs were ascertained by characterization by UV-visible spectrophotometry, XRD, newlineFTIR, SEM, and SEM-EDX. Furthermore, the synthesized AgNPs had a remarkable newlineantibacterial activity in vitro at 100 mg against pathogenic strains of E. coli and S. newlinepyogenes each, rendering those as novel antibacterial agents against upper respiratory newlinetract infection . newlineUrinary tract infection (UTI) is a commonplace ailment in females, and a clinician newlinemostly administers in empirical therapy antibiotics of some higher generations for the newlineforthwith-control. Since plant-synthesized AgNPs have the intrinsic antibacterial newlineproperty, a filamentous and nitrogen-fixing cyanobacterium Nostoc sphaeroides was newlineisolated from brackish water near Chilika Lake, Odisha for the synthesis of AgNPs newlinepossibly against UTI causing bacteria. The taxonomic typification of N. sphaeroides was newlineconfirmed by submitting its rRNA sequences to GenBank (MT974143). Furthermore, the newlinesynthesis of AgNPs was pursued with its aqueous extract, and UV-visiblespectrophotometry, newlineFTIR, XRD, SEM, and SEM-EDX were used for structural newlinecharacterizations. Those AgNPs were tested for antibacterial efficacy in vitro with the newlinepathogenic bacterial strains isolated from urine samples of patients reporting UTI; the newlineMIC value was 50mg/ml.
