Abstract: | Secure communication becomes a complex process in Mobile Adhoc newlineNETworks (MANETs) due to the nature of the wireless medium. There newlineare numerous active and passive attacks on a multi-hop wireless newlinecommunication. The active attacks disturb the functions of a network, newlinewhereas the passive attack overhears the channel without disrupting the newlinenetwork functionalities. Unlike active attacks, the passive attacks, such as newlineimpersonation are challenging to detect, since they can cooperate in the newlinerouting activities in the network layer, but hack the confidential data. Most of newlinethe research works have focused only on the active attacks. However, there is newlinea little progress in providing secure communication against the impersonation newlineattack. An impersonation attacker compromises the legitimate node as well as newlineit misuses all the secrets of compromised node. By utilizing these capabilities, newlinethe attacker launches impersonation attacks during wireless data newlinecommunication. Strengthening the personal key and monitoring the behavior newlineof each node is crucial to avoid impersonation attack. This research work newlineproposes polynomial reduction and candidate elimination algorithms against newlineImpersonation in a clustered MANET to tackle above security issues. |
