In recent years the age of attaining puberty has declined gradually, from newline14 or 15 years to 8 or 9 years. The aim of the study is to assess the influence of socio demographic variables on Knowledge (K), Attitude (A) and Practice (P) regarding menarche among girls (n=300) in selected schools in Bangalore, Karnataka. A Data Collection Instrument (DCI) was developed to quantitatively measure the KAP. To address the lack of awareness, the researcher developed and administered an interventional package of nurse led education, nurse led discussion and nurse led demonstration of exercises during menstruation to a small group of school girls (n=300) aged between eight and eleven years, who are divided into control (n=150) and experimental group (n=150). After administration of interventional package to the experimental group, the post test was conducted with same DCI to both the groups. It is observed that in the experimental group, the level of adequate knowledge had been increased from 0% to 67%, favourable attitude had been increased from 20% to 73% and good practice increased from 0% to 40%. Hence, this study proves it should be essential to educate young girls regarding menarche using an interventional package. newline
