Effectiveness of Continuing Nursing Education Programme for Staff Nurses Regarding Ventilator Bundle Care on Knowledge Practice and Preventing the Occurrence of Ventilator Associated Pneumonia at SMVMCH Puducherry

ABSTRACT newline Ventilator associated pneumonia (VAP) continues to be a common and potentially fatal complication of patient on mechanical ventilator. The VBCis A couple of interventions together and evidence based practice effect of to fast recovery and positive outcome of health on patient under mechanical ventilator. The major objective of the study is to evaluate the effectiveness of continuing nursing education programme on ventilator bundle care among staff nurses regarding preventing the occurrence of ventilator associated pneumonia.Quantitative research approach with pre experimental one group pre- and post-test research design was adopted and convenience sampling technique was used. The study was conducted in Sri Manakula Vinayagar Medical College and Hospital 1050 bedded hospital in Puducherry .Based on sampling technique 301 staff nurses were selected.In pre-test out of 301 samples, 25(8%) of them had more knowledge 174(58%) of them had average knowledge 83(27.7%) of them had good knowledge and 19(6.3%) of them had very good knowledge. In post-test 5(1.7%) of them had average knowledge 120(40%) of them had good knowledge 134(44.7%) of them had good knowledge, 42(13.7%) of then had excellent knowledge. The study concluded that the risk of developing VAP can be mitigated by VAP prevention care bundles. newline
