Non international armed conflicts challenges under international humanitarian law

Abstract

This thesis determines non-international armed conflicts: challenges and perspectives in the light of international humanitarian law. Qualitative doctrinal research will be undertaken to analyse content and application of the pertinent legal instruments, namely Common Article 3 and Additional Protocol (APII). To determine the parameters of this question, qualitative doctrinal research was carried out to ascertain under what conditions international humanitarian law is applicable to internal armed conflict, the extent of challenges to international humanitarian law from Non-international armed conflicts. newline
