Abstract: | Fifty percent of women experiences pelvic floor dysfunction at some newlinepoint of their life time either postnatally or pre or post menopausal stage newline(Hagen et al, 2011).The vaginal cones play a major role in womenand#8223;s health in newlineimproving their quality of life by reducing and preventing pelvic floor newlinedysfunction symptoms. The vaginal cones are not readily available in India. newlineImporting the vaginal cone from other countries would be expensive and this newlinecannot be afforded by the individuals from the economically weaker newlinebackground. Treating pelvic floor with vaginal cones takes 45- 90 days to get newlinedesired improvement, for which the women need to attend pelvic floor newlinerehabilitation sessions daily. This increased treatment period would make the newlinewomen to withdraw from the treatment. If the women get this facility she can newlinelearn from a physiotherapist once and can perform these exercises at home. newlineFor which there is a need to fabricate a cost effective, safe and reliable newlinevaginal cone suitable for Indian women and study its effectiveness and newlineacceptability. newlineThis study aims to design and develop the cost effective, safe and newlinereliable vaginal cone to treat pelvic floor dysfunction in women. newlineThis study concludes that the newlinecustomised vaginal cone is equally effective, safe and reliable as newlinecommercially available vaginal cone in reducing the pelvic floor dysfunction newlinesymptoms such as urinary/fecal incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, sexual newlinedysfunction and improves pelvic floor muscle strength. The acceptability, newlinedevice handling, and effectiveness of customised vaginal cones are equal as newlinethe commercially available vaginal cones but the customised vaginal cones newlineare more affordable than the commercially available vaginal cones. This newlineproduct can be used alternative to the conventional vaginal cone newline |
