Abstract: | Remote Healthcare frameworks such as HPlane address major challenges faced by our newlinehealthcare providers to deliver affordable and quick medical care to common people. In newlinethis thesis, we enable decentralized trust functionalities for HPlane. First, we present an newlineaccess control model for HPlane with a motivating example. But the present mechanism newlinefor managing the access control in HPlane can only be achieved through a centralized newlinesystem that is not scalable, leads to a central point of failure, and raise trust issues. newlineOne possible solution to overcome these challenges is to integrate blockchain technology into HPlane however issues such as 1) reliability in blockchain consensus protocol, and 2) eclipse attacks on blockchain light clients can undermine the security of HPlane. We improve the reliability of blockchain consensus using BLS multi-signature and a novel robust spanning tree protocol. Our evaluation shows that the protocol has significantly improved the reliability of the blockchain without compromising the consistency guarantee. Finally, we solve the issue with the eclipse attack on blockchain clients by providing two practical solutions, first, using the suspicious block timestamp and second, with a ubiquitous gossip protocol. We rigorously analyzed the gossip protocol with real Internet traffic, and the results indicate that our protocol incurs a negligible overhead and detects eclipse attacks rapidly with high probability newline |
