Abstract: | ABSTRACT newlineTeachers are the child s primary contact on the academic journey of the children and so, teachers are the ideal persons to detect specific learning disability of a child which can best be identified as early as 3 to 4 years of age when children enter preschool, if any. Hence, a quasi experimental study was conducted to assess the impact of Information Education and Communication (IEC) package regarding Specific Learning Disabilities (SpLD) on knowledge, attitude and compliance (KAC) among primary teachers in selected schools at Arakkonam Taluk. The main objectives of the study was to assess the effectiveness of IEC package. Modified Imogene King s Goal Attainment Model was adopted for the implementation of IEC package on SpLD. 400 primary teachers were assigned using multi stage sampling technique were adopted, with simple random technique (Lottery method) as stage 1 and convenient sampling as stage 2. Data analysis showed that the study group had statistically significant difference in knowledgewith t value of 63.18, attitude with t value of 46.37 and compliance with t value of 35.80, which were found to be significant at plt0.001,in comparison to the control group. On conclusion, the IEC package had a significant effect in improving knowledge, attitude and compliance regarding SpLD among primary teachers. newline newline |
