Abstract: The term cyberspace that originated in the science-fiction genre as a media where machines can talk to each other is now used by experts to describe a global network of information exchange [1]. Cybersecurity is an essential field of computer science that involves the study of various threats to cyber-space as well as their countermeasures. In this chapter, we explain the difference between outsider threats and insider threats. We go ahead and explain the problems associated with insider threats as well as the techniques commonly adopted to address them. After explaining the existing scenarios and their limitations, we present the motivation, objectives, and hypothesis for our research in the area of insider threats. newline
