Liver is not only the largest organ on the basis of size but also the body part with high rate of metabolic activity. Liver disorders of viral origin is a global concern and responsible for 40-50 percent mortality in human being. It is one of the serious condition which increases day by day due to changing dietary habits and lifestyle. Liver toxicity is very common and which impairs various normal physiological functions like metabolism, synthesis, storage and detoxification of many endo and exogenous compounds. Herbal medicine obtained from plant containing flavonoids, saponins, tannins and alkaloids found a very good alternative of traditional drug to prevent the further progression of disease. The study was intended to evaluate hepatoprotective activity and efficacy of extracts obtained from seeds of Albizia lebbeck Linn, Cassia occidentalis Linn and leaves of Swertia chirata Roxb. in in vitro and in vivo system. newlineMethanolic, ethanolic and acetone extracts were prepared from plants of interest using rota-vapour. The percentage yield of Albizia lebbeck Linn, Cassia occidentalis Linn seed extract and leaves extract of Swertia chirata Roxb. was obtained 16 %, 14 % and 12.2 %, 17 %, 16 % and 14 % and 17 %, 15 % and 13 % in 70 % methanol, 70 % ethanol and 70 % acetone respectively. newlinePlants were further screened for their phytoconstituents to know active biological compounds using qualitative and quantitative method. The qualitative phytochemical screening indicated the presence of tannins, alkaloids, saponins and flavonoids in methanolic, ethanolic and acetone extracts of seeds of Albizia lebbeck Linn, Cassia occidentalis Linn and leaves of Swertia chirata Roxb. while the alkaloids, tannins, saponins, carbohydrates, glycoside, phytosterols, oils and fats, phenol, flavonoids, protein and amino acid are present only in methanolic extract of Cassia occidentalis Linn seeds. The quantitative phytochemical analysis revealed that flavonoids and alkaloids content was maximum (4.7 ± 0.09 mg g-1) and (3.73 ± 0.06 mg g-1) in me
