Geophysical Studies for Groundwater Exploration Management and Demarcation of Groundwater Potential Zones in Nokha Desert Region of Rajasthan India

Abstract

The present study was conducted in the Nokha block of the desert region of Rajasthan. newlineThis area is mainly rocky and the quaternary formation comprises of mainly sand, silt, silt-sand newlineand occasionally gypseous clay, kankar and dune sand. The Nokha block is bounded between newlineLat: 27014 to 27051 Log: 730 to 73052 . And, the area covered is 3850.1 km2. This area suffers a newlinesevere water scarcity problem. While the renewable freshwater resources available from the newlinestate s river basins are extremely limited, there is high level of development of available water newlineresources for irrigation, municipal and industrial uses. In lieu of the limited surface water newlineresources, the dependence has been extremely high on groundwater. newline
