Abstract: | This thesis focuses on the chemistry of heterocyclic compounds which newlineplay an important role towards development of organic synthesis and their wide newlineapplications in medicinal chemistry. The ring system containing nitrogen, oxygen newlineand sulfur as heteroatom has important role in many biological processes and as newlinetherapeutic agents. Heterocyclic intermediates are being used more and more in newlinesynthesis as protecting groups readily generated and readily removed. In newlinebiological world, heterocyclic compounds are everywhere; heterocycles forms the newlinesites of reduction in many enzymes and coenzymes. Fused heterocycles show newlinebroad occurrence in nature, particularly in biological systems like nucleic acid, newlinehemoglobin, plant hormones and enzymes. newlineNature selected heterocycles as the basis for most of the essential newlinebiological systems. Heterocyclic compounds are widely distributed in nature and newlineessential for life. They play vital role in the metabolism of living cells. There are a newlinevast number of pharmacologically active heterocyclic compounds many of which newlineare in regular clinical use. Some of the heterocyclic compounds play an important newlinerole in agriculture field as well. There is no doubt that the chemistry of newlineheterocycles will continue to grow further for the development of new drugs, newlineagrochemicals and various other noble materials. newlineHence, varied applications of different heterocyclic compounds and their newlinederivatives have prompted us to work in the area of heterocyclic chemistry. In this newlinework heterocyclic compounds like pyrazoline, isoxazoline, flavonols, newlinebenzodiazepine and benzothiazepine, are prepared and are tested for their newlinebiological activities against different pathogens. newlineAbstract newlinePh.D. Thesis By Mr. Kottapalle G.
