dc.description.abstract | newlineThe present study was carried out to speciate and to perform the newlineantimicrobial susceptibility of non-fermenters, by which the prevalence of newlinemultidrug and pan-drug resistance of NFB can be identified. By analyzing the newlineantibiotic susceptibility pattern, multiple antibiotic resistance (MAR) indexing newlinecan be done which reveals the possible source of contamination with multi newlinedrug resistant organism. Biofilm formation by non-fermenters from various newlineclinical samples was analysed and correlated with antibiotic susceptibility newlinepattern. To know whether the surface and skin disinfectants with different newlineconcentrations can work on non-fermenters or not, disinfectant susceptibility newlinewith three different concentrations was also studied. newlineThe nonfermentative Gram negative bacilli do exhibit newlineextremely rapid development of antibiotic resistance, when new antibiotics are newlineintroduced. Thus being resistant to multiple antibiotics, the prevalence of nonfermentative newlineGram negative bacilli not only limits the treatment options but newlinealso act as a reservoir of drug resistant gene. Thus effort should be made for newlineprevention and control of hospital infections due to non-fermenters and thus newlineminimizing the mortality rate. | |
